What is Claude Teams pricing for an Australian business in 2026? The short answer: US$20 per user per month billed annually, which is roughly A$30, with a minimum of just two seats. It almost always starts the same way, though.
One person at the company discovers Claude. Writes better emails, summarises contracts in minutes, starts thinking out loud with an AI that actually gets the nuances. Soon it's two people. Then four. And suddenly there are five of them sharing one Pro login, colliding with each other's chats, and nobody quite knows whose Visa is being charged US$20 a month.
This is the moment Teams becomes relevant. And it's also the moment it starts costing real money.
Here's what Claude Teams actually costs in 2026, what's included, and why it's not always as simple as clicking "upgrade".
What is Claude Teams, exactly?
Teams is Claude's plan for organisations from two people up to 150. Anthropic officially calls it the Team plan. It's the same Claude as in Pro, plus admin tools, shared billing and the governance layer a business actually needs.
It's also the first level where Claude starts feeling like a company tool rather than an individual subscription.
One note before the numbers: Anthropic bills in US dollars and list prices exclude tax, so allow for GST and the exchange rate on top. The A$ figures below are rough conversions at about 1.5.
What is Claude Teams pricing in 2026, straight up?
Anthropic lists Teams like this in its official pricing1.

Minimum two seats, maximum 150. That entry bar used to be five users, which kept a lot of small teams out. Not anymore. Two people can start today and add seats as they go.
And there's one more number worth noting. Premium seats cost US$100 per user per month billed annually (about A$150), and they include Claude Code plus significantly more usage2. What do you get for the money?
This is where it gets interesting. Teams isn't just about the price, it's about what becomes possible when you go from solo to group.
Centralised billing. One invoice from Anthropic for all users. Not five different card charges scattered across the month.
Admin console. You can add and remove users, see activity, set role-based permissions and spend controls. Trying to do that without admin tools once you're fifteen people is a nightmare. Everyone who has tried knows.
SSO and domain capture. Your people sign in through your identity provider, and anyone with your company domain lands in your workspace instead of creating rogue personal accounts.
Shared Projects. One of Claude's best features suddenly becomes a team tool. You can build common workspaces with context, instructions and files that the whole team uses and improves together.
Priority support. Faster response times when something plays up. Which is worth more than people think, right up until something actually plays up.
When do you switch from Claude Pro to Claude Teams?
This is the question we get most often. There's no magic answer, but there are three clear signals.
There's more than one of you using Claude daily. With the minimum down to two seats, the economics tip early. On annual billing a Teams seat costs US$20, the same as Pro billed monthly, and you get admin, SSO and shared Projects thrown in. That's worth it.
You're sharing work around documents. A 200-page contract everyone needs to query the same way. Shared instructions for proposals. A common Project the whole team improves. That's what Pro can't do, and Teams can.
Someone in the organisation wants control. A CFO, an IT lead, a founder who wants to know who's using what. Pro gives zero visibility. Teams gives an admin console.
If one or more of those bells is ringing, it's time. Otherwise, keep running Pro.
A worked example: what Claude Teams costs in practice
Let's take three common sizes and run the numbers, on annual billing with standard seats.

That's the direct price from Anthropic. In US dollars, converted roughly, before GST.
For a 25-person organisation you're looking at around A$9,000 a year for the Claude licences. What do you get? Twenty-five people who each potentially save 30 to 45 minutes a day on documentation, emails, analysis and preparation. That adds up to something like 2,000 hours a year of reclaimed time3.
But that's not the whole picture. When you buy directly from Anthropic, a few things show up that aren't in the price list.
The catch: buying Claude Teams direct as an Australian business
Anthropic is an American company. Sign up for Teams directly and you get:
- An invoice in US dollars (exchange-rate movement every month)
- GST that isn't on the invoice but still needs handling in your books, which your accountant will have opinions about
- No dedicated contact who knows your organisation
- Nobody helping you figure out how you should use Claude, only that you can
And then there's the third thing. The one nobody mentions until it happens. Procurement.
To get Claude Teams into a serious Australian organisation, finance usually wants a local invoicing arrangement, a privacy assessment against the Privacy Act and the APPs, vendor registration and a plan for how it scales. Common questions
What happens if someone leaves? You remove the user from the admin console. On annual billing you won't get a refund on the year already paid, so if your headcount moves around a lot, it's worth thinking about how you want to pay.
What are Claude premium seats? An expanded seat for developers who use Claude Code intensively, with significantly more capacity. US$100 per user per month billed annually, on top of your standard seats. Most teams don't need it. The ones that do already know.
