How much does Claude cost? 2026 plans in EUR

A finance manager who opens the company card statement finds a Claude line that never matches the number on the pricing page, and that gap is the first thing European buyers ask about. Before anyone asks how much does Claude cost in euros, know that Anthropic lists every plan in US dollars and excludes tax from the list price. Your bank then converts the charge on the day it runs.¹

The euro figures below are rough conversions at about 0.85 euros to the dollar, which is where the rate sat in September 2026, and they will drift by a few cents every month. Budget on the dollar number, treat the euro number as weather, and read the VAT section before the first invoice goes out.

How much does Claude cost on each plan?

Anthropic sells four self-serve plans for individuals and teams plus an Enterprise contract, and the table below shows each list price as the pricing page states it.¹

Claude Free and Claude Pro

Claude Free gives you a limited number of messages each day, which is enough to test Claude on one contract or one report before a cap pauses you for a few hours. Claude Pro at $20 a month lifts that ceiling and adds Opus 5.5 and the other current models from September 2026.¹² The Fable models are the exception, since they run on paid usage credits on Pro and on Team Standard seats and are included only on Max and Premium seats.³ Pro also includes Claude Cowork, meaning a desktop mode where Claude works through the files in a folder on your computer and saves finished documents back into it.¹²

Claude Max for the heaviest single user

Max 5x at $100 and Max 20x at $200 a month exist for the one person who runs Claude all day, typically a developer or an analyst with long tasks. Most people never need it, and a quick test is to count how many times Pro paused you last week, because fewer than three pauses means Max buys you nothing.

What does Claude Team cost for a European company?

The Team plan is the step most companies take once two or more people use Claude every day, and it now starts at two seats instead of the five it used to require.⁴ A Standard seat costs $20 per user per month billed annually, or $25 month to month, and a Premium seat for heavy users costs $100 annually or $125 monthly.¹ A qualifying nonprofit pays far less, because Anthropic offers the Team seat at $8 per user a month, as Claude for nonprofits explains.

Both seat types sit in the same workspace, which is what makes the sums work for a mixed team. A twelve-person agency with two developers can put the developers on Premium and the other ten on Standard, at $2,400 a year for each group. That comes to about €4,080 in total, against roughly €12,240 if all twelve people sat on Premium seats.

The admin console that comes with Team handles single sign-on, central billing and spend controls, although it still leaves one job to a human. Somebody has to read the seat list once a month, because a seat nobody opens costs exactly as much as one used all day.

Claude Enterprise: seat fee plus usage

Claude Enterprise costs $20 per seat per month on annual billing, and every message is charged on top at API rates, meaning the per-token prices developers pay when they call Claude from their own software.¹ The total therefore tracks your volume, which is why a company should log two months of usage on Team before it asks for an Enterprise quote.

Does Claude charge VAT to European businesses?

VAT is where European invoices go wrong most often, because Anthropic calculates tax from the billing address on the account and not from the country your team works in. A VAT-registered business adds its VAT ID under Settings then Billing, behind the Update button next to the payment method.⁵

Timing matters more than people expect, since Anthropic applies billing changes to future cycles only and states that completed invoices cannot be updated afterwards.⁵ Add the VAT ID before the first invoice runs, because an ID added in month four leaves three invoices with tax your accountant then has to chase.

The EU rule underneath is simple enough to explain in one sentence. When a business buys services from a supplier outside its own country for business purposes, it usually accounts for the VAT itself under the reverse charge and deducts it again in the same VAT return.⁶

Where does Claude store your data in the EU?

Data from Claude Team and Enterprise is stored in the US by default, according to Anthropic's own privacy centre, even though traffic may be routed through servers in Europe.⁷ Anthropic also states that inputs and outputs from its commercial plans are not used to train its models by default, which is the sentence most data protection officers want to see in writing.⁸

A company that must keep processing inside Europe has a second route, because Amazon Bedrock offers Claude models through an EU cross-region inference profile covering regions such as Frankfurt, Ireland, Paris and Stockholm.⁹ That route bills per token through your AWS account instead of per seat and needs a developer to set up. It suits a customer service agent or a document pipeline better than a chat window for thirty people.

How does Claude pricing compare with ChatGPT?

The sticker prices sit on the same line, since Claude Pro and ChatGPT Plus both list at $20 a month and a Standard seat on either team plan lists at $20 per user billed annually. What a ten-person team pays in year one

A ten-person team buying Claude Team Standard direct pays $2,400 a year, about €2,040, charged in dollars to a company card. Through satori-claude the same ten people cost €490 once for the setup, then €24 per user per month for the Standard licence and €14 for support and a quarterly usage report. The first year comes to €5,050 on one invoice in euros.

The difference of roughly €3,000 buys someone to call when a seat breaks, the VAT handled once, and a report every quarter that shows which seats nobody opens. That is not the cheapest way to buy Claude, and a team with one confident admin and a company card should buy direct. Teams that want the rollout and training handled as well can see the fixed prices for a Claude consultant, where a two-hour workshop costs €280 per user from eight people.

The short version

Claude costs nothing to test, $20 a month for one serious user and $20 per user per month for a team billed annually. VAT runs through your VAT ID, while the euro amount moves with the exchange rate.
